June Gone in a Flash

Wow, can you believe June is already over! What a crazy busy month it was.

Kurt and I celebrated out 2nd wedding anniversary on the 10th with dinner and relaxing with Dillon. Our friends Maggie and Mat along with their daughter Greta welcomed their new son Norman to the world on the 11th. We have not been able to meet him yet, but we are very excited to see this new little man. My nephew Jordan celebrated his third birthday and in true three old style, when we called to wish him a happy birthday said “I not talk to Auntie Tina right now.” What a stinker! Look at him in his new "ride"!

We had a lot of graduation parties to attend that kept us pretty busy on the weekends. Dustin from eighth grade and is now getting ready for high school at West Allis Central. Heather graduated and is now preparing for Oshkosh, we wish her the best! Heather in true Heather fashion when asked about her gold tassel said “I think I am supposed to wear it because it is prettier then the green one” well come to find out she wore the gold tassel because she was graduating with HONORS!! We are so proud of her! Only Heather would think that she was wearing the gold tassel because it was prettier then the green. My little God daughter is all grown up! Where did the time go?

The road construction has started on Calhoun, what a mess. We have lost a total of 6 trees and they say that is all they are going to take. We are keeping our fingers crossed. We have planted 8 new trees on the back of our property in hopes of making some kind of barrier between us and the neighbors. Not that we do not like them we just do not want to see them.

With all the rain that we got in the beginning of the month, we like the rest of Wisconsin had some water in the basement. Thank God for it not being sewer back up but just that the sump pump could not keep up. WHAT A MESS! Kurt started the bailing process of getting the water out and I was on the clean up duty to make sure all was dry and cleaned up. We did not end up losing anything. We are thankful, things could have been a lot worse.

This week we are getting ready for our first annual Baker summer vacation to Delta. We are going to be there from the 4th to the 12th. We are looking forward to the time away and just relaxing.

When we were kids the summers seemed to last forever and as adults they seem to just fly by, I want back the time when summers were forever!

Dillon's 1st Birthday!!

Hard to believe that one year ago our little bundle joy came screaming into this world. Not much has changed except that he is much larger and the screams are a lot louder!

This weekend we had Dillon’s first birthday! The weather was crappy. It rained for most of the morning and then when it stopped it was cold. Dillon not liking the weather was also in rare form. So just like our wedding everyone was walking around with gloves and warm coats on. Who would have thought that it would have been so cold in May. Dillon got lots of new clothes and fun toys. Grandma and Grandpa Menore bought him a sand box and Great Grandma Watson bought him a bunch of toys to play with in it. Now we can’t wait for the warm weather.

Dillon missed his cake on Saturday due his nap, but was able to have cake on Sunday (actual birthday) with Kurt and I. He was not to sure what to make of it at first but then once he figured out what it was, game on. He loved the cake, licking his fingers and everything. By the time we were do ne with the cake it was everywhere hair, floor and even mommy.

Well with our first year behind us (so sad) where did the time go, we look forward to what the next year has in store. Dillon is learning tons of new things and saying lots of new words. He is turning in to such a Big Boy.

What a sad but wonderful past week. We said good bye to my great-grandma this past week. She was 93 and had a wonderful life. Dillon and I drove to Potch Chee Nunk which is right outside of Wittenburg, WI for my great-grandma’s funeral. It rained the whole time which was fitting for the way we were all feeling.

This weekend turned out to be beautiful! The weather allowed us to get outside and play. Dillon just loved it. He is right on the edge of walking but just won’t give in! He will take a few steps and then fall down and start crawling. Stinker! Dillon got an earlier birthday present from cousin Rhonda that he loves, it is a Little Tykes swing and slide. On Sunday we all went outside and played in the grass and on the slide. Dillon had so much fun. He found a stick that became very attached to. We even had to bring it in the house for lunch and it was only then that Dillon put it down. I’m sure even now he has his priorities, and his snacks come first. He was so pooped that he took almost a two hour nap, until Grandma and Grandpa Menore came over for dinner. As soon as he heard Grandpa’s voice he was up and at it. He loves his Grandpa.

Thirteen more days and Dillon you be one year old. WOW!

Well now that winter is over (keeping fingers crossed) it is now time to plan for Dillon’s big day. We can hardly believe that a year has gone by so fast. Last year at this time I was sitting at home with my feet up on bed rest wishing for our baby to come. Now I am chasing our baby wishing for some “bed rest”! We are hoping for some warm May weather so that we can have an outside party with friends and family. If not I am not sure how we are going to fit all the people in the house. Either way I am sure it will be a fun day.

We had a good Easter. Went to visit Grandma Joan and had a wonderful Easter dinner. Dillon loves to play with all of his cousins. He was pushing them around the house on a little tractor that Joan has for the kids to play on. Then we came home and dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Menore’s. There he got to play with his uncles and watch a little basketball.

They have started the road construction in front of the house, what a mess. Calhoun Road is due to be shut down by June 1 and not completely finished until June of 2009. We are not looking forward to this. It is going to be a mess for a long time I am sure. All the noise and dust! We will keep you updated on the progress of the read as it unfolds.

Dillon and I are going to have a mommy and Dillon weekend. Kurt is going out of town this weekend to go Turkey hunting with Chris, Corey and Zech. We had plans of going to Kid Fest but with this measles outbreak I am rethinking that idea. Dillon has not had that shot yet, so I am not sure I want to take any chances. So we will see what the weekend holds for us.

Until the next time.

Dillon and the Easter Bunny

I took Dillon on Tuesday to see the Easter Bunny, as you can see from his picture he was less than impressed with her.

Walking

Dillon took his first two independent steps last night. Of course I was out running errands but Kurt called me right away to tell me. We tried to get him to do it again but he was not interested in trying it again. I am sure he thinks why should I walk when I can crawl much faster and you can carry me. So we will keep trying. He has a walk along walker and he just loves to push that around the house. He has not learned how to turn around yet so when he gets to wall he yells and Kurt or I will turn him around. Do you think he has us trained?! We took him out side yesterday and he walked up and down the driveway pushing the walk along, he was so proud and just loved being outside. We can not wait for the warm weather.
